Evergreen is Here!!!

Guess what everyone?! The Morgan County Public Library is now officially part of Evergreen Indiana! I can now get books from 84 other libraries in the state (and you can too!).

Do you have your new card yet? All you need to do is bring in your old library card and your Indiana driver's license or state ID (or if you're too young to have a driver's license, a parent who has one.) If you're under the age of 18 you and your parent must come together to get your new library card. The cards look really cool, they're green!

Come see me soon! It's been really quiet at the library lately and I miss seeing everyone.

So Much is Going On!

I am so sorry that I haven't blogged in so long but I have been a very, very busy bunny. There is so much going on at the library that I've had to start helping out!

The library makes its big switch to Evergreen Indiana on December 9th and everyone here has been working extra hard to get ready for the big event. (If you want to learn more about Evergreen, check out the library's website by clicking here.) My mommies and aunties have been putting new barcodes on EVERY single book, movie, and audiobook we own. That's a lot of stickers! Of course, I've been supervising them to make sure everything is being done correctly.

We're also getting ready for the Festival of the Trees. Starting December 1st, there will be Christmas trees in the library that have been decorated by groups from the community. They each had to pick a book that went with the theme "Christmas Around the World" and use the book as the inspiration for decorating their tree. The library is going to be absolutely gorgeous when all of the trees are up!

Finally, and most importantly, I got a bigger cage!!! I now have even more room to run around. You should come see it! I still have Sit with the Bunny time, every Friday from 4pm-4:30pm in the Story Corner. Come see me soon!

This is Halloween, this is Halloween!

It's almost Halloween, hurrah! I have my costume all ready to go. Do you know what I'm going to be? I'll give you a hint, I'm going to be one of the characters from one of my favorite Halloween books. Here they are!

"Bunnicula: A Rabbit-Tale of Mystery" by Deborah and James Howe- The Monroes bring home a new adorable pet bunny...or is it just a bunny? Chester the cat is convinced it's a vampire! This comes in both a chapter book and an easy reader version!

"Minerva Louise on Halloween" by Janet Morgan Stoeke- Everyone's favorite chicken trying to figure out what everyone is doing on the farm. The pumpkins have funny faces and the farmer's wife is handing out really sweet corn! What is going on?

"Mouse's First Halloween" by Lauren Thompson- Mouse is trying to figure out what he is hearing and seeing. Bats flapping, apples dropping, and a glowing jack-o-lantern- what could this be?

So, who am I for Halloween?

Come to the library and find out!

Happy Halloween and love and carrots!

VICTORY IS MINE!!!!

I KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON! THE MYSTERY HAS BEEN SOLVED!!!!

I'm having a surprise party on Friday!!!

I've lived at the library for one whole year (has it been that long?) and my mommies and aunties thought they would throw me a surprise party. It would have been a surprise too...

But they advertised it on the library's website and I check out the website regularly!

I hope you will come to my party, it starts at 4pm on Friday. I'll even do my best to act surprised!

Something Strange is Going On....

My library mommies and aunties are acting stranger than ever. I'm starting to think that something is happening. Here is a list of reasons why:

1.) I keep hearing them talk about these things called cupcakes. I didn't know what they were, so I Googled them. Apparently they're something that humans love but that bunnies cannot have.

2.) I hear people start to say something about me and then my mommies say, "Shh! Don't tell Morgan!" What's the big secret and why can't I know what's going on?!

3.) Miss Alyssa has been trying on this ridiculous hat that has rabbit ears on it. The mommies think it's adorable, I think it's not a good look for her.

I'm not sure what is going on but I will find out!

The Lullaby of Broadway Bunny

I've decided that I'm not even going to mess with television and movies. I'm going to take my newfound fame and go to Broadway! I'll be the first library bunny on the Great White Way (that's what people in the business call Broadway)!

How did I get this fantastic idea? One of our new books (we got a LOT of them this week!) is called "Lights on Broadway" by Harriet Ziefer with awesome illustrations by Elliot Kreloff. It even has a CD with a song by Brian Stokes Mitchell who is a very famous Broadway actor. I haven't got to listen to it yet because my CD player got taken away for playing "Kidz Bop" too loud. I'm sure it's wonderful though.

But the book itself is great even without the listening to the CD. It's an alphabet book that explains some of the different words that people in the theater business use. For example, did you know that in the theater the word "house" refers to the parts of the theater beyond the front of the stage? It also has quotes from famous actors, playwrights, and directors. It's a great book for anyone who wants to know more about the theater.

Gotta go, I need to practice my vocal warm-ups so I'll be ready for auditions.

Being a Star is Exhausting

I am soooooo tired! This whole being famous business can really wear a bunny out. Since my article in the Reporter-Times on Monday (which I know you all have read by now), I've had lots and lots of visitors to entertain. And if that weren't enough, I had a photo shoot yesterday too.

I need to rest to keep my strength up but I also don't want to disappoint my public (that's a fancy way of saying my fans). Whatever will I do?!

I Have Arrived!!!

My article was in today's paper! The Reporter-Times! AND THERE WAS A COLOR PHOTO OF ME!!! Oh, and Miss Alyssa was in it too (but let's be honest, I looked better).

I was very pleased with how the article and my photo turned out. Thank you again Mr. Scott Roberts for coming to interview me.

Now that I have conquered print and the Web, it's time to move onto television and film! Maybe I should get an agent....

Fabulous Friday!

I had such a wonderful day today! Today was "Sit with Morgan" day at the library (we do that every Friday from 4pm-4:30pm, just so you know) and I had 12 visitors, and Ms. Bobbi, who came to sit with me in the Story Corner.

I had so much fun running around and visiting everyone. I even had the library mommies bring my tent and tunnel into the room so I could show everyone my tricks! I like to run through my tunnel very fast, it's super fun. I was also a nice bunny today and let everyone pet me before they left. And Ms. Bobbi told everyone what a good girl I was today. And I got pellets afterwards! Omnomnom....

Thanks to everyone who came to see me today. I had a wonderful time and I hope you'll come see me again!

My First Chapter Book!

I finally finished my first chapter book! I was very nervous about reading a chapter book at first but I took my time and asked my library mommies for a little bit of help. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! Would you like to hear about what I read?

I read "The Night Fairy," by Laura Amy Schlitz. This book is about a little fairy, Flory, who looses her beautiful fairy wings. She discovers that while the world she lives in is beautiful, it can be scary for a little fairy. Flory isn't very nice at first because she's trying so hard to survive. She bosses around a squirrel named Skuggle but soon discovers that not everyone responds to her bossy ways. How will Flory ever survive? I won't spoil the book but it does have a happy ending.

I liked this book a lot! It was a very sweet story and it has some beautiful illustrations by Angela Barrett. I hope that you'll come to the library and check it out.

So...now that I finished this book, what should I read next?

Extra! Extra! Read All About Me!

So, remember how I said I was about to become even more famous?

Yesterday, I was interviewed by Scott from the Reporter-Times. He's writing an article about me and my blog! Isn't that awesome?!

I'm not sure when the article will be in the paper but I will let you know.

And I will try not to let fame go to my ears. I shall remain a humble bunny.

Reader Rabbit, That's Me!

With everyone back in school, I've had lots of time to read some of the new books that have been coming in. Here are a few more that I really enjoyed:

"What to Do About Alice?" by Barbara Kerley- This book talks about the life of Alice Roosevelt, the daughter of President Theodore Roosevelt. I was worried that a biography (that's a book about a real person's life) might be boring but this one was great! It's funny and has awesome illustrations.

"How to Build Your Own Country" by Valerie Wyatt- The title says it all! It's even given me a few ideas about creating my own country in the library....

I'm also getting ready to start a chapter book. I've never read one before and am a little nervous but my library mommies offered to help me if I get stuck.

New Books!

New books, new books, tra la la la la la!

We have sooooooooooooo many new books in the Children's Department! I didn't know that many new books existed. I've been trying to read as many of them as I can. I would just check them all out but my mommies say that I should leave some new books for others to read too.

Here are some that I have really liked:

"Nanook & Pryce: Gone Fishing" by Ned Crowley- Two boys go ice fishing and end up seeing the world!

"The Middle-Child Blues" by Kristyn Crow- Lee talks about the pain of being a middle child (I'm so glad I'm an only bunny).

"Hip & Hop, Don't Stop!" by Jef Czekaj- Hip and Hop (who is a bunny!) work together to perform at the local rap contest.

"Hot Rod Hamster" by Cynthia Lord- A little hamster wants to win big with his shiny new race car.

"The Little Moon Princess" by YJ Lee- A little princess learns not to be afraid of the dark.

Please come and check out our new books! Be sure to let me know what you think of them!

Day 4 of the Evil Red Kale

The library mommies continue to give me red kale, hoping that I'll eventually like it.

Sorry, that's not happening. The only red vegetable I like is the floor of my cage.

Perhaps I Should Have Been Named Houdini....

So, the library mommies recently got me a pretty pink harness and a matching pink leash. It's a very nice harness and has cute flowers on it. But I have a love/hate relationship with my harness and leash.

Why I love my harness and leash:
  • It's my favorite color.
  • Wearing the harness means I get to get out of my cage!
  • I get to spend more time visiting my mommies and the library patrons.
  • It's fun to make Mommy Krista run all over the library!

Why I hate my harness and leash:
  • I can't go where I want.
  • I can't go where I want.
  • I CAN'T GO WHERE I WANT!!!

Yes the leash and harness mean I get to go out and about but the mommies get to pick where we walk and they won't let me run under carts and tables. I know they mean well, but it does sort of take the fun out of it for me.

But I am a very smart bunny.

Yesterday they put the harness on me and had Miss Alyssa go walking with me for a bit. This was fine for a while but I really wanted to run free. I kept trying to get out of the harness by backing up but this plan wasn't working very well (not to mention slightly embarrassing). So I came up with a new plan.

There were lots of people admiring me and talking about my life at the library, so I dashed under one of the book carts. As they were trying to get me out from there, I was able to quickly work my way out of the harness and I was FREE!!! I could go wherever my little bunny heart desired!

Until Miss Alyssa caught me 5 seconds later.

But now I know how to get out of my harness. My walks are about to get a lot more interesting....

Grr...

They cleaned my cage!

My beautiful, glorious cage that I had arranged just the way I wanted it. The lovely piles of pellets on the floor, the strands of hay carefully arranged, and the mountains of paper bits- all that work, ruined!

I need to pout for a moment before I begin redecorating....

Trouble Seems to Be My Middle Name These Days

For those of you who haven't been to the library in awhile, I have a new house! It's nice and big and has a beautiful red floor.

And not only is the floor quite pretty, it's quite tasty too!

Although, chewing a new cage to bits is not acceptable behavior according to my library mommies. They got grumpy when they saw that I had chewed on the floor just a little bit. When they saw that I had done some major chomping around the sides, I was in serious trouble. As in, I got called by my full name trouble.

I can't help it! Rabbits have to chew on things to keep our teeth healthy. If I don't chew, my teeth would be hanging out of my mouth and it would be terribly painful. Besides, it's my cage and I should be able to do whatever I want to it!

Besides, if they let me chew on my cage floor, I won't have to chew on the library furniture anymore.

Puppies- I don't like them

I get lots of visitors at the library and I'm always very happy to see them! However, I did get one visitor last week that I was not at all happy to see.

Mommy Krista brought a puppy to the library last Friday. I had never seen a puppy before but I'd heard lots of people talk about puppies and other animals they have at home. At first, I didn't mind the puppy too much. He was running around on the floor and I was resting in my cage. All of the staff and a few visitors were paying attention to him and talking about how cute he was. I was a little jealous but I tried to be nice.

Then Mommy Krista put the puppy on the table where my cage sits. I do have to say he was kind of cute; he was white with brown and black spots. He was also very wiggly. This puppy was starting to invade my "personal bubble" as Miss Alyssa calls it, but I was still trying to be nice so I didn't say anything.

But then the unthinkable happened.

Mommy Denise opened my cage door and let the puppy put his head inside of my cage.

This was the last straw. I backed up into the corner of the cage until they got that furball out. Why did they let him in my cage without even asking me? I thought it was very rude. My mommies were very nice to me after that, giving me special treats and telling me how I was the cutest bunny they had ever seen but I was still very mad. I didn't talk to anyone for the rest of the afternoon.

I really didn't mind the puppy that much, I was just upset that he was getting all of the attention instead of me. It's nice to be the center of attention but it's also nice to share the spotlight I suppose.

But I still don't think you should bring puppies to the library. I'm just saying.
