Bad Weather at the Library

The Library Mommies and I have been online most of the morning monitoring the bad weather that will be coming through this afternoon. Do you know what you should do if you are at my library when the weather is so bad the sirens go off? I will tell you.

When we hear the sirens, the Mommies and other staff members will ask all patrons to follow them downstairs to our staff room. The staff room is on the lowest level of the library and has no windows, making it an excellent place to be during storms. If you want to stay in the library while the storm is happening, you must be in this area because we want everyone to be safe. I go in the staff room too, of course, in my lovely pink carrier to wait out the storm.

While we aren't open for business while the storm is going on (that means no check outs or internet, sorry), the library remains open as a safe haven for anyone caught in the storm. Please stop in if you find yourself out and about when the storm hits.

Library staff will be monitoring the situation by listening to our local radio station, WCBK, and checking local news and weather stations online. Once the "all clear" is given, everyone is free to go about their business.

Storms can be a little scary, but having a safety plan in place can make them seem less so. I hope everyone, no matter where you are, stays safe today!

Morgan

Sad News

My friend Peyton T. Fish passed away yesterday. He'd been very sick and the library mommies did everything they could but it was just his time.

He was a good fish. He was camera shy, so I don't have a picture of him, but he was a lovely dark blue beta fish with just a little red on his feathery fins. He always liked visitors and was an excellent listener. We will all miss him.

Morgan

P.S. Mr. Paul, it is way too soon for sushi comments.....

A Horse of Course

Ms. Alyssa and Ms. Bobbi are all jazzed up for some horse race tomorrow. It's called the Kentucky Derby and in Ms. Alyssa's home state of Kentucky, it's apparently a pretty big deal. She even went as far as to call it the "greatest two minutes in sports."

Does anyone else know anything about the Derby? I will say that these horses have some...well...unusual names, such as, Pants on Fire and Mucho Macho Man. Then again, they may think that Morgan is an odd name for a rabbit.

The Teen Video!!!

Remember awhile back when I told you that the teens were making a commercial for the Summer Reading Program? Well here it is!!!

Isn't it cool?! But I must say...there seems to be a very important library staff member missing from the video.....

Hello friends! I've got what's going on at the library this week, along with some special information!

Today, we have our Curious About program at 5:30pm where Ms. Janice will be talking about Pirates Past Noon by Mary Pope Osborne.

Thursday is a special Mother's Day Storytime with Ms. Linda at 10:30am and 2:30pm.

Now for the special stuff! Starting this week, many of my library mommies and aunties will be traveling to local elementary schools to talk about the Summer Reading Program! The theme for this year is "One World, Many Stories." Look for them to come to your school sometime this month.

I would also like to mention that we will once again be hosting our Computer Course for Beginners this month. This course will start you from scratch, teaching you about mouse and keyboarding skills, as well an overview of commonly used computer terminology. This class meets Tuesday, May 17 at 10am and again on Thursday, May 19 at 6:30pm. Space for this class is limited and registration is REQUIRED. Please call or visit the library with any questions or to sign up!

And lest I forget about our teen patrons, Cassie is planning a special Summer Reading Bon Voyage Party on Friday June 3rd! It is an after-hours program so it should be really fun! Space is limited and registration is REQUIRED!
